Public notice of a revocation proposal pursuant to section 32 of the Nature Conservation Act 1992
The Department of the Environment, Tourism, Science and Innovation is proposing to revoke part of a protected area, in accordance with s 32 of the Nature Conservation Act 1992 (NCA).
This public notice is pursuant to s 173Q of the NCA and also seeks views in consideration of the Human Rights Act 2019, including Aboriginal peoples’ and Torres Strait Islander peoples’ cultural rights.
The amendment proposed to be made is as follows:

The proposal will revoke part of the national park, known as Bresnahan Island, to enable the reinstatement of its original tenure (unallocated State land) to facilitate the exercise of exclusive native title rights, interests and access by the Registered Native Title Body Corporate (Mamu Aboriginal Corporation RNTBC). |
