QPWS seeks public information following recent death of dingo on K’gari

Queensland Parks and Wildlife Service (QPWS) is calling for public information following the death of a dingo on K’gari, believed to have been hit by a car.

An injured dingo was located on the beach near Yidney Rocks on the morning of 4 September.

Visitors reported hearing a dingo yelping and a commotion nearby but did not witness the incident.

QPWS K’gari Ranger Cameron Weightman said evidence at the scene suggested the dingo may have been struck by a vehicle.

“Tyre tracks in the sand indicate a vehicle may have swerved,” Ranger Weightman said.

“Following the incident, we believe the dingo has taken off and run down the beach before collapsing beside a car.

“The dingo sadly succumbed to its injuries.”
