This page provides the official list of the department’s consultations and statutory public notices (those that are open for feedback); statutory notifications (those that are for information only); and links to key topics with ongoing notifications.

In 2021, amendments to the Financial Accountability Act 2009 require Queensland Government agencies to publish information, public notices and advertising required by State law online. This is a change from the previous requirement to publish in print.

While there are some exemptions to the online publishing measure, allowing for print publication in limited circumstances, a corresponding online listing will also be published on this page.

    Consultation is now open on the draft new Queensland Waste Strategy, which sets out how we plan to reduce waste and increase recycling to create economic opportunities. Community, industry, businesses and local governments are invited to have their say on whether the draft new Queensland Waste Strategy can deliver environmental and economic benefits, which waste types that are the most important to focus on and the action needed to achieve our goals for Queensland.

    This application seeks approval of a network of gas extraction wells, 13 in total, from the surface of land extending down to the target coal seams, which will source the CSG for a CSG power plant and also contribute to pre-drainage of the open cut mine at South Walker Creek. Extraction of the gas will utilise surface to in seam wells. Vertical wells will be drilled from the surface and lateral wells will be drilled to intersect the vertical wells. The gas drainage field is expected to have a project life of 15 years.

    The application proposes a pilot CSG exploration and drainage program to occur on ML1790.
    13 vertical and 10 lateral wells are proposed with a total disturbance area of 12ha, comprised of 11.80ha associated with drill pads and 0.2ha associated with access tracks. The pilot is understood to be a 2 year project, with the layout finalised by end of 2025.
    The purpose of the project is to target the Goonyella Middle Seam and ascertain the presence, quantity and quality of CSG, and assess the geological and petrophysical properties of the coal seam.
