This page provides the official list of the department’s consultations and statutory public notices (those that are open for feedback); statutory notifications (those that are for information only); and links to key topics with ongoing notifications.

In 2021, amendments to the Financial Accountability Act 2009 require Queensland Government agencies to publish information, public notices and advertising required by State law online. This is a change from the previous requirement to publish in print.

While there are some exemptions to the online publishing measure, allowing for print publication in limited circumstances, a corresponding online listing will also be published on this page.

    The project proposes a single-seam underground mine on mining lease application (MLA) 70383 commencing from within the existing Saraji mining lease (ML) 1775. It proposes to mine up to 11 million tonnes per annum (Mtpa) of run-of-mine (ROM) coal to produce up to 8Mtpa of metallurgical (coking and pulverised coal injection) product coal. This equates to approximately 110 million tonnes (Mt) for the export market over a 20-year mine life. It is located within the Isaac Regional Council (IRC) local government area (LGA), approximately 30 kilometres (km) north of Dysart and approximately 167km south-west of Mackay in the Bowen Basin region of central Queensland.

    This EA application is relevant to the notification of MLA70459 and is identical to the EA application being notified in relation to MLA70383.

    Centurion Coal Mining Pty Ltd (a subsidiary of Peabody Energy Australia Pty Ltd) has lodged an application for a major amendment to environmental authority P-EA-100658735 and Progressive Rehabilitation and Closure Plan (PRCP) PRCP 100669070_V4 relating to expansion of the authorised surface disturbance footprint to undertake exploration activities and advance the development of longwall mining through the completion of early works.

    Exploration and early work activities include coal seam gas (CSG) exploration, construction of gas risers, service boreholes, boreholes for sampling and exploration, a bleeder shaft, disturbance for future surface works, construction of gate roads, and Underground In-Seam (UIS) gas drainage works on Mining Lease (ML) 1790.

    The amendment proposes to increase the EA-approved disturbance area from 13.2 ha to 167.41 ha, representing an additional 142.98 ha to accommodate 334 drill pads, associated ancillary infrastructure, and access tracks.

    Additionally, it is proposed to add a new Environmentally Relevant Activity: ERA 13 – Mining black coal, to authorise approximately 1-2 million tonnes of coal material extraction on ML 1790 (over the life of the Project).

    The amendment application proposes several changes to the Ernest Henry Mine, including extending the underground mine operation from Reduced Level (RL) 1150m to RL 750m.
