Science and Innovation Ministerial Advisory Council Expression of Interest
The Queensland Government is seeking expressions of interest from individuals interested in being considered for appointment to the new Science and Innovation Ministerial Advisory Council (the Council).
The Council is being established as a key initiative of the Science and Innovation Strategy Ideas into Impact: From discovery to delivery (the Strategy) and will provide strategic advice to help guide priorities, strengthen coordination across the science and innovation ecosystem, and support the implementation of the Strategy. The Council will explore opportunities to increase research and development investment, enhance commercialisation outcomes and strengthen cross-sector partnerships across Queensland.
Applications are encouraged from individuals with demonstrated expertise and leadership in one or more of the following areas:
- Commercialisation, entrepreneurship and research translation
- Venture capital and investment
- Research and university leadership
- Industry leadership
- Advanced technologies and future industries
- Strategic partnerships and collaboration
- Regional and place-based leadership
- Science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) education leadership
- First Nations knowledge and leadership
- Philanthropy.
The Queensland Government is seeking a diverse membership reflecting the breadth of Queensland's science and innovation ecosystem, including representation from universities, research institutes, businesses, investors, startups and innovation hubs.
Interested applicants are invited to review the draft Terms of Reference for the Council, complete an Expression of Interest and submit a current curriculum vitae outlining relevant experience and expertise.

Next steps
Following the close of the Expression of Interest process:
- all applicants will receive an email requesting additional information to support standard appointment due diligence processes associated with Queensland Government advisory body appointments
- applications will be assessed against the Council's required skills, experience and stakeholder representation criteria
- recommendations regarding appointments will be provided to the Minister for consideration
- successful applicants will be contacted following completion of the appointment process
- all applicants will be advised of the outcome of their application in due course.
