Notice about 2026 NTI Townsville 500 temporary works and unattended vehicles on public land

The Minister for the Environment, Tourism, Science and Innovation gives notice as part of the Major Events Act 2014 about temporary works and unattended vehicles on public land for the 2026 NTI Townsville 500.

I, Andrew Powell, Minister for the Environment and Tourism and Minister for Science and Innovation give notice that for the periods from the beginning of the day on Monday, 15 June 2026 to midday on Thursday, 9 July 2026; and from midday on Monday, 13 July 2026 to midnight on Saturday, 1 August 2026, the major event organiser for the 2026 NTI Townsville 500 (V8 Supercars Australia Pty Ltd ACN 077 053 484) intends to exercise its powers under section 16 of the Major Events Act 2014 to carry out and maintain temporary works and carry out incidental activities on public land inside the areas surrounding Townsville Civic Theatre as shown on the map prescribed under Schedule 1 of the Major Events (Motor Racing Events) Regulation 2015. To enable temporary works and maintenance to be carried out during the stated periods, vehicles left unattended on public land as shown on the prescribed map may be moved and dealt with in accordance with the Major Events Act 2014 (including moving and storing vehicles at owners’ expense).
