Kempton Minerals Pty Ltd has submitted an application to amend the environmental authority (EPML00899813) and Progressive Rehabilitation and Closure Plan (P-PRCP-100766313_V1) for the Georgetown Gold Mine Project, located 6 kilometres southwest of Georgetown. The proposed amendment seeks approval for the construction and operation of a three-metre height extension to the existing tailings storage facility.

Resource activity: Mining activity relating to a mining lease

It is advised that Georgetown Gold Mine has lodged an application for a major amendment to an environmental authority and a PRCP schedule in accordance with the requirements of the Environmental Protection Act 1994. The environmental authority and PRCP schedule being amended are EPML00899813 and P-PRCP-100633313_V1.

The application relates to the construction and operation of a three-metre lift of the existing tailings storage facility (TSF) at the Georgetown Processing Plant. The proposed lift will increase the storage capacity of the TSF to support the continued operation of the Project. Upgrades to the facility are also included as part of this application, aimed at modernising the operation, monitoring and maintenance of the TSF in accordance with current engineering and regulatory standards.

The resource activity is proposed to occur on the following tenure(s): ML3409, ML3358, ML3374, ML3540, ML3548, ML3591, ML30192, ML30193, ML30195, ML30196, ML30201 and ML30203.

The application documents for the project consist of the Notice of Change to Amendment Application, Environmental Authority and Progressive Rehabilitation and Closure Plan Supporting Information Report, the Information Request Notice and response to the Information Request Notice.
