The ANM representatives are also travelling to the area in Brazil where the QMRC officers are staying to accompany/take them to the visits and meetings for the week. This enable the QMRC officers to learn more about rehabilitation approaches in Brazil, especially around tailings management, following the Brumadinho tragedy and the Brazilian governments response and industry's subsequent adaptation. The knowledge gained will be brought back and used to inform future QMRC leading practice work and advice to government.

A free event ticket and a basic lunch in return seemed reasonable and polite, especially as it also provided a great networking opportunity and I didn’t know of any other food options in the surrounds i.e., chatting to others about what DETSI does, educating others about improving environmental outcomes and regulatory problems. Also eating food together is beneficial in building relationships. And it was the IPIQ’s way of bringing people together and thanking them. This opportunity and mutual benefit would likely not be supported if DETSI had to pay for a ticket
