- Professional Officers (PO): Specialist and practitioner roles requiring a degree (or equivalent).
- Technical Officers (TO): Roles requiring a diploma/advanced diploma (or equivalent), often supporting PO streams.
- Operational Officer (OO): Specialist roles across functional areas such as Rangers and Wildlife Officers under the Parks and Wildlife Award.
- Senior Executive Service (SES): Leaders who shape strategy and direction at the highest levels.
Each role has a classification level (e.g. AO2, AO3, AO4), with higher numbers representing higher-level responsibilities and pay. Each classification includes a salary range with multiple increments (or pay points).
