The Queensland Parks and Wildlife Service has lifted the suspension of Marine Parks Permit MPP18-001119-2. The permit holder is now authorised to resume approved research activities within Moreton Bay Marine Park, limited to those specified under the current permit conditions.

Following an incident involving a protected marine species during authorised research in Moreton Bay Marine Park, the Queensland Parks and Wildlife Service temporarily suspended marine park permit MPP18-001119-2 as a precautionary measure. A thorough internal review of the incident was conducted, including consultation with stakeholders and the permit holder.

As the risk associated with certain activities has been addressed and the permit conditions remain appropriate for the research currently proposed, the suspension has now been lifted. The permit holder is authorised to resume permitted activities as outlined in the approved marine park permit.

The Queensland Parks and Wildlife Service remains committed to the responsible management of marine parks and the protection of marine wildlife.

Public notice of the end of the suspension is required under section 30(5)(b) of the Marine Parks Regulation 2017.
