The department is seeking comments from the public and interested groups about the proposed renaming of Roundstone Conservation Park to Wadja-Roundstone Conservation Park, and renaming of Zamia Creek Conservation Park to Wainjigo-Zamia Conservation Park.

The Department of the Environment, Tourism, Science and Innovation (the department) is proposing to rename Roundstone Conservation Park to Wadja-Roundstone (Wad-jah) Conservation Park, and rename Zamia Creek Conservation Park to Wainjigo-Zamia (Ween-dih-goh) Conservation Park.

Wadja and Wainjigo are the traditional names used by the registered native title claimants, the Wadja People. Their native title claim was accepted for registration on 9 January 2023; and includes Roundstone Conservation Park and Zamia Creek Conservation Park.

Wadja People have an ongoing connection to this Country and engage in cooperative management of the conservation parks with the department.

The department is seeking comments from the public and interested groups about the proposed renaming.

Comments on the proposed name change should be returned to:
