The Queensland Government invites Expressions of Interest for the positions of Chairs and members of two World Heritage advisory committees: Riversleigh World Heritage Advisory Committee; and K’gari World Heritage Advisory Committee.

The advisory committees are responsible for providing advice to the Queensland and Australian Government Ministers and management agencies responsible for World Heritage to ensure that Australia continues to meet its obligations under the World Heritage Convention to protect, conserve and present these World Heritage properties. The advisory committee members are appointed by the Queensland Minister responsible for World Heritage.

The Chairs are appointed jointly by the Australian and Queensland Government Ministers responsible for World Heritage.

The committees are comprised of members who represent an area of interest or expertise relevant to the World Heritage property, and one independent Chair. In addition, as part of a suite of initiatives under the Queensland Women’s Strategy 2022-27, the Queensland Government has set gender balance requirements for all appointments to Queensland Government bodies.
