Speaker 1:

Working for the Department, I originally thought it was dirty boots on ground. And it's so much more than that. There are so many opportunities to protect our environment.

Speaker 2:

I first started with the Department in 1982 as a Ranger. And from there, I've progressed as a Ranger, as a Planner, as a Management Officer, in a range of different roles there.

Until now, I am involved in Community Engagement with a whole range of different stakeholder groups. It's more than just working with wildlife.

You can work in media. You can work with drones. You can work with cutting edge technology. You can work behind the scenes. And it's pretty exciting stuff.

Speaker 3:

In my role, we're not on the front line but we are supporting the staff who are on the front line. I love connecting with other staff. Anything we can do to make their day easier is really rewarding.

Speaker 1:

Everyone has something to offer the Department. You’ve just got to find what it might be. There are so many opportunities and so many doors that are opening often. And if you take those opportunities, you never know what's around the corner.

Speaker 3:

The most important thing for me is the team connection that I have. The environment is very supportive. The management and leadership walk the talk. They have integrity. They’re very warm, and they know how to lead a team.

Speaker 1:

We are encouraged to learn every day and sign up for learning programs, look for opportunities because if you don't take it, somebody else will.

Speaker 2:

For me, it was just a fantastic opportunity to work in the environment in a place that I loved. And I think this Department in particular attracts people who've got a love and a passion and a commitment to the environment, and trying to achieve something positive, trying to get a better outcome at the end of the day.
