Minjerribah Futures
Minjerribah (North Stradbroke Island) is an island that lies within Moreton Bay in the Australian state of Queensland. The Quandamooka People are the Traditional Custodians of Minjerribah, which is the second largest sand island in the world after K’gari, formerly Fraser Island.
Minjerribah Futures is the Queensland Government’s investment to support the transition of Minjerribah from its past reliance on sand mining to a new future as a leading destination for cultural and eco-tourism. The transition program rests on a foundation of Quandamooka culture and sustainability. It seeks to achieve a Minjerribah that is environmentally pristine with a thriving economy.
Minjerribah Futures (preceded by the North Stradbroke Island Economic Transition Strategy) commenced in 2016. Of the 25 projects 23 have been completed.
