We are committed to supporting Queensland to have a skilled, resilient and world-class tourism workforce who deliver exceptional services and experiences.
Build a skilled workforce and business capabilities
The Queensland Government has launched The Right Skills Strategy 2025–2028, a more than $5 billion investment designed to build a highly skilled workforce and support Queenslanders to access more than 430,000 job opportunities by 2028.
The strategy will strengthen engagement and collaboration with industry and stakeholders; support access to quality training where and when it is needed through TAFE, private and not-for-profit training providers; deliver state-of-the-art TAFE infrastructure, support the next generation of teachers and trainers; and expand training opportunities across regional Queensland.
Given the important role that tourism plays in the Queensland economy, it is vital that industry has the skills and experience to meet the growing demands of visitors who are seeking high quality services and experiences.
Inclusive employment
When you employ a worker, the main priority is to have the right person for the job. As 1 in 6 people in Australia have a disability, the right person for the job could be a person with disability.
People with disability bring a range of skills and abilities to the workplace and can strengthen your business through a more diverse, inclusive and stable workforce and assist in addressing workforce shortages.

Young Tourism Leaders
The Young Tourism Leaders program brings together inspiring role models to encourage young people to consider a career in tourism.
Young Tourism Leaders undertake presentations in schools and participate in careers events to share the story of their career journey, highlight the diverse career opportunities which tourism offers and provide advice on how to kick-start a career in tourism. Their contribution helps build Queensland’s future workforce and supports a thriving tourism sector.
The Young Tourism Leaders program is proudly supported by the Queensland Government and Tourism and Events Queensland and is delivered by the Queensland Tourism Industry Council.
Queensland Tourism Industry Council
The Queensland Tourism Industry Council works in partnership with government agencies and industry bodies at a local, state and national level to help develop workforce skills and support tourism jobs and business.
