Destination 2045: Delivering Queensland’s tourism future

The Queensland Government’s Destination 2045 plan will position our state as a global leader in tourism, supporting richer visitor experiences, more jobs and better infrastructure.

Tourism is an economic powerhouse for Queensland and it’s only getting better.

A year ago we launched Destination 2045, our 20 year plan for Queensland’s tourism future.

Since then we’ve made incredible progress.

We committed $446 million over 4 years to kickstart delivery, turning investment into outcomes.

Together with the tourism industry we’re creating forty-five world class ecotourism experiences by 2045.

The Wangetti Trail and Smithfield Mountain Bike Park projects are well underway and the Ngaro track and Thorsborne trail are already welcoming visitors.

We’re fast becoming Australia’s events capital hosting world class events like the Rugby League World Cup 2026, the Royal Edinburgh Military Tattoo and NRL Magic Round through to 2032.

Our Great Barrier Reef and Outback Queensland Education Experience Programs are inspiring young Queenslanders to explore and learn from our regions.

With 66,000 tourism operators at the heart of Destination 2045, we’re supporting industry to grow and thrive.

Through the Tourism Support Hub we’ve supported enquiries from all thirteen tourism regions.

We’ve secured 7 new aviation services and we’re exploring new investment opportunities to grow connections to new exciting markets.

We’re supporting new infrastructure now ahead of 2032 through the $80 million Tourism Icons Investment Fund and the $20 million Regional Tourism Infrastructure Fund.

We’re cementing Queensland’s status as the home of the holiday where there’s always more to see, do and experience.

This is Queensland’s moment.

One year in we’re delivering on our Destination 2045 promise, to make Queensland a global tourism leader.
